Early Education and Care Services Expansion
Council is seeking feedback on what matters most when it comes to accessing and experiencing early education and care services in our shire.
Council provides early education and care services in Bega and Eden and a mobile preschool in Candelo and Bemboka. In 2022, a review of those services identified an undersupply of childcare in the shire. Council is considering expanding services in Bega and Eden in response to growing demand for early childhood education.
Council is developing a feasibility study, including concept designs, for potential sites for expanded early education and care services. Council will also develop a Children’s Services Workforce Strategy to help address sector-wide staffing challenges and ensure a strong, sustainable workforce to support the delivery of high-quality early education in our communities.

We’re inviting families, caregivers, educators and community members to share what matters most when it comes to accessing and experiencing early education and care services in our shire.
Your feedback will help Council:
- ensure the design of future centres reflects local priorities and values
- support inclusive, transparent and evidence-informed planning
- better understand barriers like affordability, location and operating hours.
