Bega Valley Shire Council advises works to replace Murrays Creek Bridge on Buckajo Road near Bega will commence on Monday 5 May, weather permitting.
The project is expected to take three months to complete.
Council’s Bridge Team will be replacing the single-lane timber bridge with a two-lane concrete bridge. The upgrade will enhance road user safety, resilience to natural disasters, improve traffic flow and reduce future maintenance needs.
Contractors will construct a single-lane bypass track before the existing bridge is demolished, allowing road user access while the new bridge is being built.
A reduced speed limit and traffic lights will be in place. Road users should allow extra travel time.
The project is funded by the Transport for NSW Fixing Country Bridges Program.
Council thanks the community for its patience and understanding while works are under way to upgrade this vital infrastructure.
