Bega Valley Shire Library is making it easier for residents to enjoy their local library through Library Link, a free home delivery service for people in the shire who are unable to visit their local library in person.

Council’s Acting Library Services Coordinator, Linda Albertson said whether you're recovering from surgery, living with a disability or facing transport challenges, Library Link ensures you can still access the library items you love.

“There are two simple ways to select your items, be they books, magazines, DVDs or audiobooks, and have them delivered directly to your door or a nearby participating post office or business,” she said.

“You can browse our online catalogue and reserve items or you can call one of our friendly staff to help you choose based on what you like to read, watch or listen to.”

Eligible residents include:

  • those with ongoing health, disability, or mobility challenges
  • individuals who are housebound, whether temporarily or on an ongoing basis
  • residents without access to reliable transport.

“To get a warm start to the winter, all Library Link customers will receive a complementary Winter Warmer goody bag with each delivery during the colder months of June, July and August,” Ms Albertson said.

“This is our way of connecting with customers who find it difficult to get out and about, especially during the shorter days and cooler temperatures of winter.

“We hope our Winter Warmer bags will bring a smile to people’s faces and make their reading experience even more enjoyable.

“Thanks to the Southern NSW Local Health District and Bega Village for their contributions to the Winter Warmer goody bags.”

Ms Albertson reminded residents that joining the library is straightforward and free.

“Don’t let not being a library member yet hold you back from taking advantage of our home delivery service,” she said.
