Community Consultation for upcoming work on Towamba Road

Bega Valley Shire Council advises of upcoming flood restoration works on Towamba Road, about 14 kilometres from the Princes Highway, south of Eden.

A community consultation session will be held at Towamba Community Hall on Thursday 13 March at 4pm to provide details on the upcoming work and road closure details. The works involve constructing a block retaining wall to improve the durability of the road and repairing the road surface which was damaged during the recent flood events.

Local contractors will carry out the works starting from Monday 17 March. The road will be closed between 9am and 3pm Monday to Saturday during the first phase of this work.

Outside of working hours, a single lane will remain open with portable traffic lights in place to allow road users to pass in one direction at a time. Road users should expect delays of up to 15 minutes when the single lane is open.

Staff and contractors are still working through options regarding a full road closure to all vehicles or whether it would be possible to have limited access for light vehicles under traffic control during the next heavy construction phase. More information will be released as details are confirmed.
