Community consultation for upcoming works on Big Jack Mountain Road

Bega Valley Shire Council invites the community to a consultation session about the next stage of flood restoration works on Big Jack Mountain Road.

The session will be held at the Rocky Hall Community Hall on Wednesday 20 August at 4pm to provide details on the upcoming work and road closure requirements.

Affected residents, businesses and emergency services are encouraged to attend.

Following recent geotechnical investigations, contractors will construct a block retaining wall to improve the durability of the road and repair the road surface which was damaged during the recent flood events.

The works will take place between Burragate and New Buildings, about 2.4km north of the intersection with Wyndham Street, Burragate.

Construction is expected to start on Monday 1 September and take about three months to complete, weather permitting.

Works will be carried out under partial road closures where possible, with some full closures required for safety.

Staff and contractors are currently investigating options regarding access during the heavy construction phase.

Feedback received at the community consultation session will help inform decisions regarding the proposed road closure options to minimise disruption. More information will be released as details are confirmed.

Assistance for this project is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
