Bega Valley Shire Council advises renovation works are scheduled for the Taylors Square amenities building in Tathra.

13 May 2025

Bega Valley Shire Council advises renovation works are scheduled for the Taylors Square amenities building in Tathra.

The building is located next to the Tathra Surf Life Saving Club and the ‘Everyone Can Play’ inclusive playspace.

Local contractors will establish the work site on Monday 26 May with works expected to be completed by early September 2025, weather permitting.

The upgrade project will improve the standard of the community building, making it fully accessible. The project includes:

  • demolition of the existing amenities building
  • new accessible toilets with changing room space and baby changing facilities
  • new unisex personal toilet cubicles with changing benches
  • new outdoor showers

A ‘Changing Places’ facility for high needs will include a larger-than-standard accessible toilet, shower and changing facility – a first for the Bega Valley Shire. This facility will provide suitable amenities for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets.

The existing amenities building will be closed for the duration of the works. Portable public toilets will be available nearby during this time.

Council will keep the community updated and will try to minimise disruption for those who use the amenities and recreation area.

Council thanks the community for their patience while these works are undertaken.

This project is funded by the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 5.
