Bega Valley Shire Council is inviting expressions of interest from local people who want to make a real difference in their community by nominating to join the Litter Action Plan Steering Committee.
“Whether you’re part of a community group, run a local business, work in a school or just have a passion for keeping our streets and waterways free of litter, we want to hear from you,” Environmental Project Officer, Krista Dodsworth said.
The new committee will help guide the development of the Bega Valley Litter Action Plan, a key project funded by the NSW EPA through the Litter Prevention Grants, as part of the Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy (WASM) founded by the waste levy.
“As a member of the steering committee, you’ll help us to shape practical, sustainable and long-term solutions to litter. You’ll share your ideas, work with other passionate stakeholders and support Council in creating a plan that reflects the values and needs of our community,” Ms Dodsworth said.
“We’re looking for a committee member who could be a volunteer, local leader, environmental advocate, or someone with an interest in sustainability, waste reduction or community engagement.
Committee members consisting of the community, staff and executives from Council will be asked to attend up to three meetings a year, take part in workshops and provide feedback on draft plans. The term of appointment is two years.
To apply, send us a short expression of interest (max 300 words) with your name, contact details, why you’re interested, any relevant experience, and if you're part of a group, business or organisation.
Expressions of Interest are open now until Thursday 24 July 2025, with the first committee meeting scheduled for Friday 8 August 2025.
