Bega Valley Shire Council recently endorsed a range of ‘major’ Community Project Proposals at its meeting on 23 June 2025.

Each year council receives a wide variety of projects proposed by community groups. What we classify as ‘major’ projects are those that are complex, will create new asset/s, will result in increased service levels, will require planning approvals, or resourcing and support from Council, and as such these are reported to council.

“We are happy to in principle support to these projects; which collectively can have a significant impact on our community,” Mayor, Russell Fitzpatrick said.

“The Eden Log Cabin Committee and Eden Community Access Centre proposal for extensions to Eden Log Cabin will see improvements to storage, and solar panel and battery installations.

“Councillors also resolved to support the proposed upgrades for Tarraganda Hall which include the additions of a veranda, storage room, landscaping and parking upgrade.

“We look forward to collaborating with passionate community groups as they go through the next stages of their projects which is completing their project development checklists, and we wish them success as many move forward seeking relevant assessment approvals and submitting grant applications to complete their projects.

“Our support of these proposals is an important step in bringing vital community initiatives to life.

  • Bega District Woodcraft Association for an extension to its shed at Tarraganda Hall
