Bega Valley Shire Council is inviting families, caregivers, educators and the community to share what matters most when it comes to accessing and experiencing early education and care services in our shire.

Bega Valley Shire Council is inviting families, caregivers, educators and the community to share what matters most when it comes to accessing and experiencing early education and care services in our shire.
Director Community, Environment and Planning, Emily Harrison said Council is developing a feasibility study with concept designs to guide future expansion of its early education and care services.
“We know there is an undersupply of early childhood education in the shire, with more families seeking high-quality early education for their children,” Ms Harrison said.
“Council currently provides early education and care services in Bega and Eden and a mobile preschool in Candelo and Bemboka, and we are planning to expand these services to address the needs of the community.
“We have developed a survey for community feedback about what any future centres could look like and how they can best serve the needs of the shire.
“Community feedback will help us ensure the design of future centres reflects local priorities and values, and better understand barriers to accessing early childhood education such as affordability, location and operating hours.
“We will also develop a Children’s Services Workforce Strategy to help address sector-wide staffing challenges and ensure a strong, sustainable workforce to support the delivery of high-quality early education in our communities.
“The final decision on site locations and concept designs will be informed by the feasibility study, the Workforce Strategy and the insights we receive from this survey,” Ms Harrison said.
The survey is available on Council’s website and feedback closes on Sunday 28 September.
